How To Wake Up Early To Workout- 9 Hacks

Morning workouts are both fabulous life changers and the spawn of the devil at the same time. Getting your workout done before everything else sets a positive tone to your day and gives you plenty of time to tackle everything else you need to do but having to wake up before dawn can also crush your spirit making you feel like an angry zombie roaming the gym floor. Over my many years as a personal trainer in Dallas I’ve heard some great tips for waking up early from my clients and came up with a few of my own. read on for my 9 favorite hacks for how to wake up early to workout!

-Program your coffee machine to start when your alarm goes off so that the smell of the coffee helps you wake up.

-Set multiple alarms to go off as much as you need to actually wake up.

-Get your face into some sunlight as soon as you wake up if possible. If the sun isn’t out yet (yay Winter!) turn on the lights in your home quickly to help get you out of sleep mode.

-Put your alarm across the room so that you actually have to get up to turn it off.

-Add music to your alarm that you love so that you perk up in a good mood when it goes off.

-Make plans with a workout buddy for the week so there’s accountability in actually showing up.

-Quit caffeine by 3pm in the day so that it doesn’t hurt your ability to get to sleep early.

-Sign up for classes at your gym that penalize you if you cancel late.

-Make sure you have a fast breakfast ready at the beginning of the week. Pre-prepare something or buy protein bars or fruit that you can just grab and go.

-Get to bed early! Drink tea, take a hot bath and cut off the electronics at least 30 minutes before bed time to help you fall asleep at a decent hour.
